Press Release 06/16/2021
Due to the increasing infestation of mosquitos, the cemetery needs to drastically reduce and attempt to eliminate standing water. Flower vases must be filled with sand, kitty litter or super absorbent polyacrylamide or turned over to eliminate standing water. Do not place anything in the ground. Do not place anything on grave stones that may soak up or hold water. Remove any paper, plastic or foil from flowers. Sand is available in the metal tubs through-out the cemetery. Do not leave balloons out in the cemetery since they deflate and hold water. Clean up efforts in the cemetery are being coordinated with Delta Vector Control District to eliminate mosquito breeding. These efforts will be ongoing. Anything left in the cemetery that can hold water or is deemed unsafe, breakable, and anything that may pose a landscaping or mowing safety hazard will be removed. The Cemetery District appreciates the public’s assistance in our efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding and helping us to keep the grounds safe and clean.
